Sunday March 25 10:30 a.m. Palm Sunday. This special service will include palms, a special procession, and festive and meaningful music.
Friday March 30 Good Friday Hillcrest marks Good Friday with two very special services, and a special procession between them.
You may attend either one or both services. You may also join the “Journey” in between the services.
6 p.m. Family Eucharist—Fellowship Hall This service features a communion service recalling the way of spiritual ancestors in the first centuries celebrated the Agape (“Love”) Meal together. They ate a simple meal, as a family, recalling Jesus’ sacrifice and love for us all.
6:45 Journey to Jerusalem—Procession beginning from Fellowship Hall Led by the light of Christ, we process to different places on campus to recall, and relive, Jesus’ steps on Good Friday. We hear selections of scripture, and say brief prayers, as we move from our Family Eucharist service to the Tenebrae.
7 p.m. Tenebrae Service of Light, Darkness and Music—Sanctuary Tenebrae is a traditional service of light and darkness built around the passion story. All Tenebrae services are moving and meaningful. The way we do it at Hillcrest, takes it to another level.
10:30 a.m. Sunday April 1 Easter Sunday April Fool’s Day–maybe. Easter at Hillcrest for sure. And that’s no joke. But it is lots of fun. The Lord is Risen! And organ and trumpet and bands and choirs lead us in wonderful celebration. Following the service, our sisters and brothers in the Korean Methodist Church will host a celebratory Easter lunch.
Note the times of the Good Friday services. All Sunday services begin at 10:30 a.m.
