Lenten Reflection Series - "Following Jesus to Jerusalem"
February 24th - March 24th (Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm in the Sanctuary) - Jesus "set his face to go to Jerusalem" (Luke 9:51) and in so doing called his disciples and all of us to follow him on the most human, and Godly, of journeys. Join us for Bible study (following primarily the Gospel of Luke), meditation, and reflection. Childcare will be available.
Palm Sunday
March 28th (8:30 and 10:30 am Services, Sanctuary) - The Palm Sunday worship service will reflect the transition from the exaltation of Jesus' arrival in Jerusalem to the coming trials and Passion.
Holy Week
Maundy Thursday
April 1st (6:00 pm, Fellowship Hall) Celebrate this Holy Night with Hillcrest children and families. We will transform Fellowship Hall into a tent of meeting and re-enact and eat a traditional Seder meal, including a brief reflection of Jesus' teachings and passion. Open to all members and friends of Hillcrest.
Good Friday
April 2nd (6:00 pm, Fellowship Hall) A penitential meal, followed by a communion service, will be served consisting of a simple soup and Bread. The Bread will be sanctified and broken at the beginning of the meal and used during the meal as a part of the meal itself, which is eaten in silent contemplation. Readings from The Gospel of John will follow the meal, and the Common Cup will be served. Participants are asked to bring a small unsweetened and uncut loaf of bread per group as an offering to share.
Tenebrae Service (7:00 pm, Sanctuary) In this solemn service candles are extinguished as passages from Scripture are read.
Holy Saturday
April 3rd (8:00 pm, Sanctuary) An all night Vigil of Easter service will be held in the sanctuary. Those attending after 10:00 pm will be let in by a Vigil Keeper, after knocking on the sanctuary door.

Easter Sunday
April 4th (6:30 am, Patio outside the Sanctuary) We will gather on the patio slightly before 6:30 am to discover the rock rolled away, the tomb empty. Rejoicing, we enter the Sanctuary to strip it of the black and purple of Lenten somberness and replace it with the white and gold of Easter's festive joy! Following the Transformation, we will receive Communion not as the followers of a deceased Jesus, but of a risen Christ.
Easter Worship Services (8:30 and 10:30 am) Join us for a joyful Easter Worship service in the Sanctuary. The 10:30 am service will be followed by a delicious Easter meal in cojunction with the Korean Methodist church.
