Hillcrest Congregational Church, UCC

A Caring Community Where Everyone is Welcome!

Food Room

Our Food Room serves those in need from Concord, Pleasant Hill, Martinez and Pacheco.  We supply an emergency 3 day supply of food for an individual or family up to 4 times a year.  The Food Room is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 am to noon.  To receive food an ID is required for each family member.

If you would like to donate food, you may bring it to the church office (M-F: 9:00-12:00, 1:00-3:00), or the Food Room (M,W,F: 9:00-12:00).  Alternatively your donations may be brought any Sunday and left in the basket under the table in the Narthex, as you enter before the worship service. The Food Room can always use crackers, jello, juice, chili, stew, jam, hearty soups, fruit or boxes of cereal.

Call 925-686-3663 to volunteer to serve in the Food Room.  Currently two volunteers are needed to work on the first Monday of each month.  In addition, any financial help you can give us would be greatly appreciated as we continue this important ministry.

 Clothing Room

Our volunteers provide free clothing to over 1,000 people each year.  Each client may come in 3 times a year to get clothing and we are open Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9:30-11:45 am.  ID is required.

For those needing specific time appointments, call (925) 689-0550 and leave your number and a helper will return your call.  We serve men, women and children and even have XX-large clothing too, plus some bedding and linens.  Call (925) 689-0550 if you wish to make a clothing donation.

Layette Program

The Hillcrest Congregational Church Layette Program provides to Contra Costa County public health nurses and social workers layettes for mothers in need.  We provide free layettes for over 100 new mothers every year.  These layettes consist of bedding, different types of outfits and supplemental supplies (as available).  Every layette provides much of what each infant needs for at least the first nine months.

We could use pacifiers, larger socks, booties and both boy and girl outfits in sizes from 3 months to 1 year.  Or, you may give us a financial contribution and we'll do the shopping for you!  We are very thankful and so appreciative of your generous contributions to our Layette Program.  If you are in need, contact your public health nurse or social worker.  They will obtain a layette from us for you.

Remember the words of our Savior when he said "when you do it for the least of my brothers and sisters you do it to me."
